With
a prestigious journalism career that spans sixteen years and two
continents, Lucía Navarro is currently the
lead news anchor at Telemundo KTMD-TV 48. Her career has taken her from
covering the streets of Houston as a reporter to Olso, Norway, where she
participated in the Nobel Peace Prize
Ceremony.
Her
distinguished record of professionalism has gained Ms. Navarro support
from numerous outreach groups, among them Hispanic Women in Leadership,
who recognized her as a national Hispanic role model for the twenty-first
century at a public reception held in 1998.
In
addition to her work as a journalist, her public relations expertise has
led Navarro to a leading position in the United States as a liaison for
the banking industry of Mexico.
She
is widely respected as an international correspondent through her work
with Mexico’s major networks, including Televisa, TV Azteca, and Radio
Red.
Born
in Monterrey, Mexico Ms. Navarro comes from a family of broadcast giants.
Her education includes a degree in communication science from the
Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). ITESM is the “Harvard” of Latin
America. It was at ITESM that
she garnered an award as one of the most successful graduates in her
profession.
Her
altruistic outlook has given her the vision to use her high profile role
service of the greater good. Accordingly, she often works as a volunteer
for organizations such as Ripley House and Centro de Corazón, an outreach
center for at-risk youth.
